This behavior is unacceptable. The teacher should be fired. There are rules and regulations separating the public school system from this behavior for a reason.
Weld County School District Responded:
It has come to the attention of the Weld County School District RE-5J Johnstown-Milliken leadership that on Friday May 5, during a Spanish class at Roosevelt high school, President Donald John Trump’s picture was placed on a piñata as part of a Cinco De Mayo event. Facebook photos show the piñata, the piñata tied to a tree, and a student with a bat in hand near the piñata.
The teacher in charge of this class has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the school district that will commence on Monday, May 8.
Dr. Martin Foster, Superintendent, stated, “This was an incredibly disrespectful act that does not reflect the values of Roosevelt High School or the school district.”
Although, not a Trump fan, Lesley Hollywood, a parent in Weld County, stood up for what is right. There’s nothing good can come of posting a President’s picture on a pinata and beating it with a bat. It’s disrespectful and unreasonable.
School in that Weld County community has been cancelled today due to threats of violence… Well, isn’t that what Lesley was standing against? The violent act of beating a President’s picture on a pinata?
People who now go out of their way to threaten Lesley and her family are simply proving her point. The Violence MUST STOP!
